Press statement by Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyyaji Joshi

Ujjain: Our distinguished Swayamsevaks from different organizations meet at a regular interval of 3-4 years where there is a free flow of ideas and exchange of thoughts. The meet helps in exchange of experiences and paves way to attain our common goal of making the country strong and prosperous.

It is in this sequel that we met at Ujjain for coordination and thoughtful discussion on various developments across the country.

Issues of Corruption and Black Money continue to be major irritants for all in the country. People’s sentiment on these twin issues, which adversely affects each citizen of Bharat, has been voiced through different movements across the country. In fact, massive public support to various campaigns such as the “Youth against Corruption” run by ABVP,  movement by Bharat Swabhiman Trust under the tutelage of Swami Ramdev or the movement by Anna Hazare for demand of a Jan Lokpal underlines the patriotic fervor and collective anger against these malaises which have plagued the life of a common man.

RSS through a resolution passed in March 2011 in its Akhil Bhartiya Pratinidhi Sabha had said that it supports movements that are against corruption. The Swayamsevaks of RSS are actively associating  with all other similar efforts to fight corruption and we will continue to fight against corruption. It has been our constant endeavour to make Bharat a strong and prosperous nation.

We believe it is important that all these movements should channelize their energy and work in synergy.

The government’s attitude to adopt a high-handed approach towards peaceful and non-violent demonstrators is beyond our comprehension. We cannot understand the government’s attitude of first inviting the agitating leaders for talks and, when they refuse to toe the line the government wants them to toe, then hastily putting them behind the bars.

Another issue of concern discussed at the meeting was the Prevention of Communal and Targeted Violence Bill, 2011 proposed by National Advisory Council. This will strike at the roots of nation’s unity and communal harmony. This Bill goes against the spirit of our Constitution and it violates its basic character. In fact, the Bill seeks to promote distrust and give strength to divisive forces.

The proposed Bill will not only hit at the federal structure of our country but also take away the rights of States provided in this constitutional set up. It is important that government rejects the said Bill in totality and thus help preserve the unity and integrity of nation.

Various social groups and members of the society will vehemently oppose the proposed Communal and Targeted Violence Bill, 2011.

The government should seriously rethink and realize that this Bill will be harmful that disturbs the social harmony of the country.

Ujjain,  Dr Manmohan Vaidya
